The top-ranked midfielder in the rankings, Rooney is a versatile middie that has an ideal frame for the position. He gets up and down the field with ease and has plenty of offensive prowess, as he showed last year in earning CHSAA midfielder of the year honors at Iona Prep with 46 goals and 22 assists.

Since then, he transferred to emerging national power Lawrenceville. Against a stacked Big Red national schedule, he’s racked up 20 goals and five assists. He dodges hard and is a threat on the run as both a righty or lefty. Rooney also plays with a chip on his shoulder and has gamebreaker potential out of the midfield.

Rooney, who will move back to the ’24 class after transferring to Lawrenceville, would have been one of the most sought-after ’23 middies in September if he stayed in the class. He’s got a great frame and gets up and down the field with ease. Rooney’s dominant between the lines and brings a certain package of aggressiveness and sandpaper to the midfield. He dodges hard and has good speed, and he’s a threat to burn defenses with his shot on the run, both as a lefty and a righty. Expect him to be one of the top recruits in the country next September.
