Shoreham-Wading River reminded everyone why the Wildcats are the defending New York State Class C champions.

Sophomore Alec Gregorek‘s fourth goal of the game was the overtime winner as SWR knocked NLF No. 14 Mount Sinai, 11-10, from the ranks of the unbeaten in a battle of two of Long Island’s best public school teams.

Freshman Liam Kershis added a hat trick and an assist for the Wildcats, who also got 13 saves from senior goalie Robbie Troyano (Team 91 LI).

NLF No. 1 ’22 Joey Spallina (Team 91 LI / Syracuse) nearly singlehandedly willed the Mustangs to a win with four goals and three assists, which pushed him over the 100-point mark for the second consecutive season. Freshman Lucas LaForge (Team 91 LI) scored twice, as did senior Nick Colantonio.

The two teams look to be on a collision course for a rematch in the Suffolk County championship game.
