Duenkel has slotted in seamlessly to an absolutely loaded attack line at St. John’s. It features seniors Mac Haley (Navy) and Gavin Kelly (Drexel), and together, they make up a formidable trio. Duenkel might be the most well-rounded of the three as an electric scorer with the vision and passing acumen to be a feeder first – both lefty or righty – if need be. He’s not very big, but he’s so smooth, shifty and explosive that he still gives defenders tons of fits.
As a freshman, he led St. John’s in points with 20 goals and 38 assists, and he’s been even better this spring for the top team in the country. Through 17 games, he leads St. John’s in goals (45), assists (26) and points (71). In short, he’s nasty.
Also the No. 3 ’24 kicker in the country, according to Kornblue Kicking, Duenkel very well could be a high-level two-sport athlete in college. His brother plays football at Virginia and his father also played football for the ‘Hoos.
As expected, @UVAMensLax lands @natlaxfed No. 9 ‘24 Ryan Duenkel (@NextLevelLax).— Matt Chandik (@MChandik26) September 4, 2022
Shifty QB type with superb vision led @LaxSjc with 80 points (51-29) as a sophomore. Went off for 9 points in the WCAC final to cap off SJC’s undefeated season. https://t.co/Ih0UREhj2v pic.twitter.com/c7UWqNqLiz
