A showdown between Suffolk County’s two Class C behemoths went to the defending champions.

NLF No. 1 Joey Spallina (Team 91 Long Island) once again led the charge for No. 4 Mount Sinai. The Syracuse signee bagged three goals and dished out six assists to lead the Mustangs to a 12-7 win over No. 21 Shoreham-Wading River in a rematch of last year’s Suffolk County class C title game. Spallina enters the postseason with a ridiculous 67-goal, 78-assist, 145-point résumé and he’s got Nicky Galasso‘s Long Island career scoring record of 500 points in his sights. Spallina has amassed 482 career points despite missing his sophomore campaign to the Covid outbreak. He already holds the county record for most career assists with 266.

The Mustangs (16-0) also got four goals from junior Cole Marsala (Team 91 Long Island / Quinnipiac) and a pair of tallies from both senior James Carretta (Team 91 Long Island / Georgetown) and NLF No. 26 junior Jake Spallina (Team 91 Long Island / Syracuse). Uncommitted goalie Brayden Wilcken (Team 91 Long Island) continued his terrific junior campaign with 11 saves against an explosive Wildcats offense.
