No doubt about it.

A year after winning its first state championship, Staples (Conn.) didn’t wait nearly as long for No. 2. The Wreckers got three goals and two assists from senior Army commit Tyler Clark (Express North) and 10 saves and an assist from NLF No. 5 ’25 Josh Marcus (Eclipse) in a 13-6 rout of Fairfield Prep on Sunday.

“I’ve got to imagine it’s pretty rare for a starting goalie to have two titles by the time he’s a sophomore,” Eclipse director and Staples head coach Will Koshansky said of Marcus to CT Insider’s Michael Fornabaio. “It’s that way because he has worked really hard his whole entire life. As a youth lacrosse player, he was taking shots from college shooters. He has put in more work than anybody understands, anybody could realize, to set him up for this. It’s not just a happenstance it happens this way.”

Senior Sam Eigen tallied twice and set up two more goals for Staples (17-5). NLF No. 34 junior Ben Burmeister (Express North / Notre Dame) and Leo Sequenzia (Eclipse / Providence) each buried two goals for the Wreckers.

Tyler Fox (Eclipse / Boston University) paced the Jesuits with two goals and two assists. Maddux Little (Hamilton) popped two goals for Fairfield Prep.
